 John - Age 12

I was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, ALL, on March 25th 2012 at the age of 11.  I am in remission!  My St. Jude treatment protocol, Clinical Trial Total XVI, will last a total of 2.8 years, ending in October 2014.  I’m under the care of Dr. Ching-Hon Pui, who I like to refer to as the Lebron James of ALL Leukemia Doctors.  Lucky for me his sole purpose in life is to not only develop a cure for ALL Leukemia but to find a way to prevent it.  Miss Martha May, my nurse at St. Jude, also takes amazing care of my family & me :).

Since I live in Charlotte, North Carolina I travel back and forth to St Jude every month for certain treatments.  When I’m not at St. Jude I receive treatments at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.  While at Levine I’m under the care Dr. McMahon who heads up Pediatric Oncology for Levine.  I’m lucky to have the best taking care of me!

I’m a 6th grader at Charlotte Preparatory School.  My goal is to start going back to school in March 2013.  Until then I’m keeping up with my school work by working with my teachers, my mom and my tutor.

Before getting diagnosed with Leukemia I was passionate about Soccer and played Goalie for Charlotte Soccer Academy.  I can’t wait to get back in that goal!
